BIBLE STUDIES

As followers of Jesus Christ, we seek to know God in a more intimate way through worship, prayer, and the study of scripture. In John 1:1-2, we read, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” Jesus is the Word of which John is speaking. As we study the Bible – also God’s Word – we begin to learn more about who God is in our lives and what His will for us is each day.

God's Word Blesses Us

GWBU is a process by which we learn from each other but we do not directly teach each other.  In other words, when we respond to God’s word, we share what we believe God is saying to us individually, not what we believe God is saying to others.  It is also important that we carefully listen to the Bible reading knowing that it is God speaking to us directly.

What makes GWBU very different from a typical Bible study is that it’s not about listening to one person expound on the reading.  It is about listening to what each person heard in the reading, then thinking about and discovering what God is saying to us through the passage.  The discussion that follows the readings, where we listen to what others heard, helps us think it through for ourselves and remember what we’ve heard and learned.  We are much more likely to benefit from, remember, apply and share with others what we’ve heard when we think about and discuss scripture readings with others.
